Just wanted to let u know that I had a cervical anterieur dissectomie due to a prolapsed disc pressing on a root nerve. The cervical pillow helped me to rest my neck in a proper position before the operation; and the pillow is now also helping me after the ops......I just can' t sleep without it, it as definitely improved my posture and more importantly I wake up without pain. Many many thanks.!" -C.S

"I came across this Web site by accident and am glad that I did. The customer service has been great in helping me make intelligent decisions for my purchases. I have been using the small Linear Gravity Pillow for a few weeks now for regular sleeping and love the way it feels. I started for the first week using the side where the neckroll is smaller. I then switched to the side that is slightly larger. I mainly use it for laying on my back, but I find it is equally comfortable in the sidelying position. I have noticed that my upper trapezius muscles are less sore/tense and that the twinge I would feel in my neck when rotating it sideways has decreased. The radiculopathy in my fingers has lessened slightly. I have C4-6 mild disc bulges, central canal stenosis and foraminal compromise. It has affected my finger function for what I need to do to earn a living. I was so impressed with this pillow and the hope that I can continue my career plans and avoid surgery. Today I purchased the Cervical Traction Neck Pillow and the Pronex Pneumatic Cervical Traction unit." -M.S

What is the Best Choice of Pillow for Me?
Hot and Cold Therapy Hot Pack ? or an Ice Pack? The R.I.C.E method for Acute and Chronic Pain
Choosing between moist heat or a cold pack- Heat or Ice is important depending on the type of injury you have. Arc4life gives you specific choices for hot packs and cold packs.
- Cold Therapy- Also known as Cryotherapy- Ice should be applied for the first 3 days following any type of acute injury such as a knee sprain, post surgery, or any type of swelling. Ice works to reduce inflammation around the area of injury. An ice pack can also work to numb the area of pain, creating an analgesic effect.
- Heat Therapy- Also known as moist heat- Heat should be used for chronic conditions such as muscle discomfort, stiffness. Applying heat to an area effectively opens up the blood vessels allowing blood to flow freely to the affected area. This increases circulation, delivering an increased supply of oxygen and nutrients and removing waste from sore, fatigued and injured muscles. Using a Hot Pack can be especially useful on a muscle spasm.

- What do you do when you are injured ?
For all first aid and acute injuries, you want to Protect, Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation, and Support. There is simple acroynm you can remember when you are hurt or are in pain: R.I.C.E. is the key to understand the four basic methods of speeding injury recovery:
Rest: The injured body part should be immobilized (kept stationary) for 3 to 6 days. This decreases internal bleeding and swelling to preven the injury from becoming worse
Ice: This is the best method for soft-tissue injuries. It aids in reducing swelling, bleeding, spasms and pain. Apply within 24 hours of injury, using the 20-50 rule of 20 minutes on, 50 minutes off. With our CorPak™, you can both ice and heat. To activate, you simply chill in the freezer or heat in the microwave. CorPaks also feature a soft “frost free” surface that protects your skin and non-toxic gel that’s biodegradable.
Compression: For a severe injury, immediate compression (pressure) is important to decrease bleeding and keep fluids from pooling in the area. Compression should be continued throughout the day and removed at night. The adjustable strapping on our CorPaks makes it easy to ice and compress simultaneously.
Elevation: Elevating the injured area above the heart helps reduce internal bleeding and swelling.

What does Cold Accomplish ?
Cold Therapy or using an Ice Pack produces vasoconstriction, which slows circulation decreasing inflammation, swelling, muscle spasm, and pain. Superficial cold is available in many forms including a variety of commercial cold packs, ice cubes, iced towels/compresses, and forms of hydrotherapy. When you use cold therapy, you do this for less than 15 minutes. The effect of cold is known to last longer than heat. Cold or ice should never to applied directly to the skin. A barrier, such as a towel, should be placed between the cold pack and the skin's surface to prevent skin and nerve damage. If your ice pack gets punctured, throw it out immediately as the chemical agent/gel will burn skin.

What does heat accomplish?
Heat therapy or Moist Heat should be used for chronic condtions such as muscle discomfort and stiffness. It promotes vasodilation or drawing blood into the tissues where it is needed. This increased blood flow delivers needed oxygen and nutrients, and removes cell wastes. The warmth decreases muscle spasm, relaxes tense muscles, relieves pain, and can increase range of motion. Many times heat just feels good ! Superficial heat is available in many forms including hot and moist compresses, dry or moist heating pads that you can plug into the wall, hydrotherapy, and commercial chemical/gel packs. Hot packs in any form should always be wrapped in a thick towel to prevent burns and protect your skin. Any type of puncture in the hot pack should be immediately discarded, as the chemical agent/gel will burn skin.Back to Top
How should you use heat?
The best way to apply moist heat is to alternate 20 minutes of heat therapy with a 20 minutes break. Repeat this process for 3-4 times daily until stiffness and soreness decrease. It is important when using heat therapeutically, to always have enough barrier between the skin surface and the heat pack. This will help to prevent burns to the skin. Back to Top
